Aislaby hall Cottage is situated on the edge of the
North Yorkshire Moors, about two miles from the edge of the historic
market town of Pickering. Pickering is the base for the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway, and its other attractions including Pickering Castle and typical Yorkshire market town shopping. You will also find many other attractions in the area including York, Harrogate and Thirsk with its associations with the Vet known as James Herriot |

The North Yorkshire Moors are a national park
scattered with small villages and hamlets with numerous historic
country inns. The whole region is an area of outstanding natural
beauty, whilst on the coast the historic sea port of Whitby with its
many attractions is just a 20 minute drive from the cottage. The historic fishing villages of Robin Hoods Bay, and Staithes with its association with Captain Cook, is close by. Taking a western route from the cottage, passing through Kirbymoorside, the historic market town of Helmsley, is just a twenty minute drive away. In Helmsley the main attractions are Helmsley Castle, Duncombe Park, Rievaulx Abbey, and of course the fine sophisticated shopping which Helmsley offers. There are numerous opportunities for fine wining and dining in the area. Country sports and walking are popular in the area together with many other leisure activities |
